Robin Van Persie Hit Hat Trick

Robin van Persie redeemed himself for a missed penalty by completing a hat-trick with two late goals as Manchester United came from behind to seal a dramatic victory against Southampton at the St Mary's Stadium.

Van Persie, who cancelled out Rickie Lambert’s 16th-minute goal midway through the first half, passed up the chance to score from a spot-kick as his tame chipped penalty attempt was easily saved by Kelvin Davis.

But the Saints, who had taken the lead for a second time with another header 10 minutes after the interval when Morgan Scheiderlin scored his first goal for the club, were powerless to thwart the Dutchman when he pounced from close range with three minutes to go after Rio Ferdinand's shot rebounded off a post.

Then, in added time, Van Persie marked Sir Alex Ferguson's 1,000th game in charge of the Red Devils, by rising to glance in the 100th Barclays Premier League goal of his career to round off a dramatic victory.
